Verité Research is an interdisciplinary think tank that provides strategic analysis and advice to governments, international organisations and the private sector in Sri Lanka and Asia.

Verité houses four research teams: Economics, Politics, Law and Media

These teams cross pollinate each other, giving Verité its unique ‘interdisciplinary’ approach to understanding and analysing issues.

Manthri.lk 

Manthri.lk is Sri Lanka’s pioneering parliamentary monitoring platform. Manthri.lk offers its team the opportunity to learn about Sri Lanka’s politics and current affairs its work in monitoring the performance of MPs in parliament. Candidates are expected to be enthusiastic learners and keep themselves abreast of political developments in the country. They are expected to be detail oriented, have excellent communication skills and be able to work well in a team.


Research Assistant

This role involves research as well as administrative tasks.

Responsibilities include;

-         Hansard coding,

-         Managing team databases

-         Assisting in daily administrative tasks

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Politics, International Relations, Sociology, or any other related field and be fluent in written and spoken Sinhala and English. Candidates must also be competent in MS Excel. Knowledge of statistical software such as SPSS and/or STATA will be an added advantage.

Media Research Team 

The Media Research team offers its researchers the opportunity to learn and engage in a range of interesting topics such as media ethics, media ownership and analysing the gaps between Sinhala and Tamil press reporting.

Bilngual Reviewers

The media is team is looking for bilingual reviewers for both

Sinhala – English
Tamil – English

Candidates applying for these positions must be able to translate from Sinhala/Tamil to English and have excellent writing skills in English. Candidates must also have a degree in Social Sciences, be competent in MS Office programs, have a good understanding and knowledge of Sri Lankan current affairs and have good communication skills.

These are full-time positions.

Economics Research Team

We are looking for smart, motivated individuals to join our Economics team.

Our Economics team offers its researchers the opportunity to build their network and enhance their knowledge on a range of exciting topics. Candidates are expected to be enthusiastic learners, and keep themselves abreast of economic developments in the country and the world. They are expected to be detail oriented, have excellent writing and communication skills, be able to work well in a team, and be willing to travel and undertake field research.


Public Finance Analyst 

We are offering a position for an outstanding candidate who is passionate about pursuing a career in economic research and policy making. The candidate will have an opportunity to work with and manage a team of researchers on issues relating to budget analysis, financial management, and related issues. 

We encourage you to apply for this role if you have a keen interest in public finance, are a team player, and have experience in project management and coordination. Candidates should also be familiar with current political and economic developments in Sri Lanka.    

This role will involve; 

- Management of budgetpromises.org, Sri Lanka’s pioneering budget monitoring platform;

- Experience in qualitative and quantitative research;

- Strong written and analytical skills;

- Strong problem-solving skills;

 - Excellent organizational and communication skills – the role will involve communication with government officials and institutions related to public finance;

- Pitching research findings to different audiences – the role will involve working with the Communications Team on developing creative messages for dissemination and engagement. 

Candidates with a Master's Degree in Economics, Statistics, Public policy, Sociology, International Development or other related field will be considered for this role. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree with work experience of one-two years in a related field will also be considered. Candidates must be fluent in written and spoken English and Sinhala/Tamil. Knowledge of statistical software such as SPSS and/or STATA will be an added advantage.

Communications Team

Communications & Design Assistant

Verité is looking to hire a creative, efficient individual to join its communications team.

This role includes disseminating research through different channels, assisting in designing and formatting documents, maintaining Verité’s social media platforms and databases, and innovating new practices for wider audience reach.

Candidates must have a First Class or Second-Upper Degree in Communications, Journalism, Media or other stream within the social sciences. Candidates must be fluent in written and spoken English (fluency in Sinhala/Tamil would be an added advantage), be competent with MS Office and Photoshop/InDesign, and be professional, organised and detail-oriented.
